Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our company? We hope you find the answers below.

  • Do I need a termite inspection?

You do NOT need to be present during a termite inspection so long as you provide the inspector access to the inside of all structures on your property. However, it is beneficial to attend a termite inspection as your inspector can provide you with useful information, pointing out any areas of concern, and providing you detailed information on treatment and how best to proceed.

  • How often do I need a termite inspection?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as the states of Iowa and Nebraska, recommend having your home inspected for wood destroying insects every 2 years. We recommend having your home inspected yearly. This provides protection via warranty, and can help you avoid a costly termite treatment.

  • Do I need to be present during the termite inspection?

You do NOT need to be present during a termite inspection so long as you provide the inspector access to the inside of all structures on your property. However, it is beneficial to attend a termite inspection as your inspector can provide you with useful information, pointing out any areas of concern, and providing you detailed information on treatment and how best to proceed.

  • MY HOUSE WAS TREATED FOR TERMITES YEARS AGO. DO I NEED ANOTHER TERMITE TREATMENT?

Although older termite treatment chemicals may not have been as effective as current chemical treatments, that doesn’t necessarily mean you need another treatment. Most older termiticides (pesticides that kill termites) gave control for about five years. However, if the soil near your foundation was disturbed, then so was the chemical treatment barrier and your home could be at risk of another infestation. Protect your home by having an annual termite inspection and catch signs of reinfestation early!

  • IF I NOTICE A TERMITE SWARM oN MY property, DO I NEED A TERMITE INSPECTION?

Termite swarms are an indicator of a potential problem. Swarmers do not cause structural damage but they do form new, additional subterranean colonies, which in turn can result in greatly increased termite numbers and (consequently) increased risk of property damage. Although killing swarmers eliminates the nuisance problem at hand, it does not provide any protection from further termite activity that may already be causing serious, undetected damage. The presence of termite swarmers within a property or home, is likely a symptom of a thriving termite infestation.
